            Hartfield, Grover (Buggie), born May 21, 1934, departed this life peacefully on April 1, 2014.  Born to Ms. Nellie Hartfield of Atlanta, GA and Mr. Wilbur James of North Carolina.  Mr. Hartfield was an Army Veteran with the 32nd Airborne Unit.  A lifelong successful photographer, a community organizer and an Interfaith outreach Minister.  Mr. Hartfield leaves to cherish his life, his wife Juanita Hartfield of Windsor, CT and children Stephanie Thompson of Manchester, CT, Antonio Hartfield and Benita Hartfield of New Jersey, Idelle Hairston and Sheila Parker of Springfield, MA.  He also leaves ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren, and a beloved brother Theodore Owens of New Britain, CT.  He was predeceased by his brother Floyd Hartfield.  He leaves many dear cousins, nieces, nephews', godchildren and their families and many friends.  A memorial tribute was held at 11:00 am on Tuesday April 15, 2014 with a calling hour at 10:00 am at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church 280 Windsor Ave, Windsor, CT.

            Ginsberg, Leonard, 79 years of age, of Weddington, NC, formerly of West Hartford, died Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Carolinas Medical Center.  Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Hyman and Rose (Fierstein) Ginsberg.  Leonard and his late brother Marvin Ginsberg founded Ginsberg Construction in Windsor specializing in commercial construction.

            He leaves his beloved wife Deborah (Tomlin) Ginsberg; his children, Michael Ginsberg and his wife Patricia of Wilbraham, MA, Steven Ginsberg of Englewood, FL, Robert Ginsberg of Cheshire, CT, Shelley Naser of Wallingford, CT and Melissa Watson of Charlotte, NC.  He also leaves his adored grandchildren; Ryan, Ben, Matthew, Harrison, Lauren, Jacob, Evan, Jessica, Hillary, Brynn, Dylan and Reagan.

            Funeral services were held on Sunday, June 16, 2014 at 10:30 AM with Rabbi James Rosen officiating in the Beth El Temple Cemetery, Avon.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Childrens Neuroblastoma Cancer Foundation, 360 W.          Kelting, Roger K.  of Enfield, entered into eternal rest, at the age of 80, on Wednesday July 15, 2015 peacefully in the comfort of his home with loved ones at his side.  He was the beloved husband of 59 years to Rolande M. (Clavette) Kelting.  Roger was born on March 18, 1935 in Hartford, CT to the late Roger T. and Vivian (Boulanger) Kelting.  He was a graduate of Weaver H.S. and then enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country proudly during the Korean War, stationed in Germany with the 4th Infantry Division. Roger had resided in Enfield for the past 56 years.  He was a longtime parishioner and usher of St. Bernard Church and a very involved member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society charitable services for many years.  He coached and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play hockey; a tribute hockey game was held in his honor on June 6th that included family members and friends.  Besides his loving wife Rolande, Roger is also survived by his children; Theresa Maron & husband Jeffrey of Tolland, Michael Kelting & wife Ellen of Enfield, David Kelting of Tolland and Lee Kelting & wife Kathleen of Tolland, his 10 beloved grandchildren; Aimee, Chrissy, Alicia, Steven, Jackie, Ryan, Sarah, Dylan, Tyler and Megan, his three cherished great-grandchildren and soon to be a fourth.  He also is survived by his cherished brother-in-law and sister-in-law Marcel & Norma Thibodeau, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.  He was predeceased by his parents.  The family would like to thank Roger's physician and friend Dr. Arthur Skalski for his extraordinary care and compassion.  Roger's family will receive relatives and friends during calling hours on Monday July 20, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd.             Burgess Mee, Shirley 79, she passed away Palm Sunday from leukemia.  She was raised in Hartford, graduate of Weaver High School.  One of thirteen children, she was born to Joseph L. and Catherine E. Burgess.  Her survivors are her son, Gene Koehler, his wife Dee; daughter June; brother Al Burgess; sister Ruth Shephard; Catherine Green and Carol Burgess.  She was predeceased by her son James Koehler Jr.  She leaves many nieces and nephews. She was loved and will be dearly missed by all.

Nancy Gay Obituary1935 - 2015

            Slattery, Nancy Gay of Windsor, CT passed away on February 15, 2015 surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Hartford on April 1, 1935.  She was predeceased by her parents, John O. Slattery and Anna Genevieve (Pfeiffer) Slattery and her sister Jean P. Slattery.  Nancy was the beloved wife of MG David W. Gay, the former Adjutant General.  They were married in Hartford on September 30, 1961.

            Nancy attended Weaver High School and Hillyard College.  She was employed as a legal secretary for several prominent law firms.  After her children were grown, she returned to the workforce with the Defense Contracting Agency in East Hartford.

            Nancy is survived by her son David and his wife Nancy of Virginia Beach, VA, her daughter Jennifer Lammon and her husband Scott of Latham, NY and her son Stephen and his wife Mary of Newington, CT.  Her greatest joy was her grandchildren, Emily of Virginia Beach, VA, Sara, Kathryn, Anna and Matthew Lammon of Latham, NY and Caitlin, Caroline and Shannah of Newington, CT.  She is also survived by many cousins of the Slattery and Pfeiffer families.

            A long time resident of Manchester, Nancy was a member of the St. James Mother's Circle and the Manchester Women's Club.  She moved to Windsor, in 2001, where she was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Poquonock, CT.  She was a member of the Ballymeade Book Club, the Ballymeade Social Committee and a member of the Windsor Women's Club.  She enjoyed travelling, gardening, and babysitting her grandchildren.  She loved it when the children happily exclaimed, "It's a Mimi day!"

            For eight years, Nancy was a member of the Adjutant General's Wives Association, attending the annual conference in Washington D.C. and semi-annual conferences in various cities throughout the United States.  The Association focused on Family Support Activities for Guardsmen and those deployed throughout the world.  She performed those same functions for the Connecticut National Guard Family Support Team and hosted several activities on their behalf.  Nancy enjoyed many years with the Connecticut State Militia Units and in particular, the First Company Governor's Foot and Horse Guards.  Events included several Inaugurals, receptions at the Governor's Mansion, numerous parades and military ceremonies.  Nancy had a deep love and concern for the military members of Connecticut and their families.  Nancy will be missed by all who knew her especially her family.  She had a genuine love for people and a caring and giving spirit.

            Nancy's family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Manchester Memorial hospital and North Central Hospice and Palliative Care for the care and compassion given to Nancy during her brief illness especially by Judy and Michelle.             Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 19th at 9:45 a.m. from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. James Church, 896 Main Street, Manchester at 10:30 a.m. followed by burial in the Military Section of East Cemetery.  Family and friends may call at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center Street, Manchester on Wednesday February 18th from 4:00-7:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Nancy's name to the St. James School Foundation, P.O.             McBride DeClaybrook , Barbara Helen, 78, of Hartford was called to rest Wednesday April 23, 2014.  She was born July 4, 1935 to Theodore and Bertha McBride in Hartford.  Barbara was a lifelong resident of Hartford.  She worked for G. Fox & Company for many years until she retired (1991).  She is survived by three daughters, Lisa W. Richard of Florida, Misty J. West of New Haven, CT, and Janna L. DeClaybrook of New London, CT; two sons Louis W. DeClaybrook III and Walter J DeClaybrook of Hartford; three sisters; five brothers; oldest living aunt Maurice Howard, her lifelong partner Richard Arnum, and 20 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.  She was predeceased by her husband, Louis W. DeClaybrook Sr, and children Dina, Carla, Darren, Carlton, Wesley, and Janine DeClaybrook, all of Hartford, CT.             Colandro, Phyllis (Bibeault), 74, of West Hartford, beloved wife of the late Roland W. Bibeault, died Friday, (October 24, 2008) at Hartford Hospital.  Born in New Haven she lived in the Hartford area all her life.  She was a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Church, West Hartford.  Phyllis enjoyed ball room dancing and her trips to the casino.  She leaves behind her son, Thomas R. Bibeault of West Hartford; four daughters; and a son-in-law, Carol and Henry Rzeszutek of Newington, Theresa P. Bibeault, Joan C. Bibeault, and Lisa M. Bibeault all of West Hartford; a sister, Elsie Diana of Sarasota, FL.; three grandchildren, Sara and Joseph Rzeszutek and Jason Buehler.  She is pre-deceased by a son, William A. Bibeault; two brothers, and a sister.  There was a Mass of Christian Burial St. Mark the Evangelist Church.  Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford.

               Roach, Terrence (Terry) age 80, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at his home in New York City after a gallant battle with cancer.  Born on December 13, 1933 in Houlton, Maine, he was the son of the late John P. and Mary Frances Crawford Roach.  Mr. Roach was brought up in Hartford’s north-end section and graduated from Weaver High School in 1953.  He later moved to New York City where he was employed by Gallagher’s Steak House for over fifteen years.

                He is survived by his son Stephen C. Roach who also resides in New York City and a daughter Tracey Anne (Robert) Robinson of Tolland, CT.  His grandson Brett Timothy Robinson also resides in Tolland, CT.  His brother John S. Roach lives in Hamden, CT.  He was predeceased by his beloved sister Jeanne (Ralph) Tozier.  Mr. Roach was also very close to his nieces and nephews who always enjoyed listening to many of his tales of his life experiences.

                During the Korean Conflict, he served with the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany.  Upon being discharged, he settled in Hartford, CT.

                A memorial Mass of Christian burial was held in St. Therese Church at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 19, 2014.   There were no calling hours and the burial was private at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made in his memory to St. Therese Church,105 Leetes Island Road, Branford, CT, or a charity of choice.


            Champ, Ruth Ellen Darden, 78, of Cashiers died peacefully at the Highlands Cashiers Hospital on Thursday, May 8 from pancreatic cancer.  She was born in Connecticut to the late Oliver Champ and Helen Robertson.  Ruth moved from Miami to Cashiers in the early 1960’s.  Here she married Edward Boyle Darden in 1976 and they lived full time in Cashiers.
            Ruth was predeceased by her husband, “Bud” Darden in 2010.  Ruth is survived by three cousins; Karen Bjorn of Charlottesville, VA; Great Bjorn of Glastonbury, CT; and Leonard Bjorn of Manchester, CT.  She is survived by three stepchildren; Carole McKay of Savannah, GA; Ann Darden of Tampa, FL; and Edward Darden of Oak Harbor, WA.

            Ruth is also survived by many loving friends in her church and community.
            Ruth thought of herself as a true mountain woman and embraced her life in Cashiers.  She was a champion tennis player, avid reader, and talented gardener.  Ruth was an active member of the Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Cashiers.  She was passionate about her dogs, Dixie and Mercury.

            Services were held graveside Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Norton Cemetery in Cashiers.  In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations in honor of Ruth be made to the American Bouvier Rescue League, PO Box 689, Cheshire, MA 01225.  Bryant-Grant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

           
Coleman III, Alonzo of Covington, Georgia passed on to begin his new journey on Sunday, (August 18, 2013).  He leaves behind his loving wife of 22 years Patricia Frazier Coleman, his sister-in law Judith Frazier of whom he was a dedicated caregiver; his children, Dr. Miles Johnson (Dr. Tracy Green Johnson) of Atlanta, Michelle Jackson, and Marcus Coleman of Miami.  He also leaves two step-children, William Monroe (Sarah) of Yuba City, California and Meredith Monroe of Phoenix Arizona.  He leaves 12 grandchildren who loved him dearly.  His family was blended and he loved them all.  Alonzo Coleman III was born July 20, 1935.  The son of Alonzo Coleman II and Robbie Wood Coleman in Hartford CT, he graduated from Weaver High School.  He was a veteran of the Korean War.  He had a passion for cooking and was one of the first African Americans to graduate from the Culinary Institute of America.  He went on to graduate from the University of Miami.  He worked in food service all of his life, retiring from the State of Connecticut Department of Corrections as Food Service Supervisor.  He was a dedicated Prince hall Mason and was a past Master of Tuscan Lodge #17 Hartford CT, a member of the American Legion Post 142.

            In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to The Glory Campaign c/o Springfield Baptist Church.  Al fought a great battle.  RIP

Burk,  Robert M. 79, of Windsor Locks, formerly of Windsor, husband of the late Patricia (Keegan) Burk and Jean (Walker) Burk, passed away, Thursday, (July 25, 2013).  Born in Hartford, son of the late Herman and Dorothy (Barry) Burk, he was raised there and graduated from Weaver High School, Class of 1953 and served in the US Army during the Korean War.  He had been employed by the Birken Manufacturing Company, Bloomfield, starting as a bench grinder and retiring after 35 years as Executive Vice President of Production.  Robert was a licensed real estate agent.  He served many years as Windsor Locks' Civil Defense Director and on the Windsor Locks Redevelopment Agency.  In addition, he was a Boy Scout Leader in Windsor for many years and was a former member of Windsor Lodge # 2060 BPOE.  He enjoyed spending time at his lake home in Monterey, MA.  He leaves three daughters, Linda Sendobry of Stafford, Lisa Burk and her husband Jerry Barney of Torrington, and Laura Nolan of Windsor Locks; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

His family received friends Sunday, July 28, 2013, from 3-6 p.m. at the Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East Street, Suffield.  Family and friends gathered Monday, July 29, 9 a.m. at Nicholson & Carmon's followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 52 South Elm Street, Windsor Locks.  Burial followed in St. Mary Cemetery, Windsor Locks.  Contributions may be made to Windsor Locks Lions Club Ambulance, 401 Spring Street, Windsor Locks, CT 06096.

Labinger, Stanley H., 77, of West Hartford, beloved husband of Andrea (Kaplan) Labinger for 51 years, passed away Thursday, (August 1, 2013) at home.  Born in Hartford, the son of the late Morris and Florence Labinger, he grew up in Hartford, graduating from Weaver in 1953.  He attended the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy graduating with honors in 1957.  Stan owned Farmingdale Pharmacy in New Britain from December 1964 to January 1986.  He was very active in pharmacy organizations among them the National Association of Retail Druggists, and the Alpha Zeta Omega Pharmaceutical Fraternity.  Stan was active in the Connecticut Pharmacist Association and was installed as president in June 1975.  After he sold his business, he became an investment broker and worked as an arbitrator for FINRA until his death.  He enjoyed playing his trombone and was active in community bands and most recently playing Klezmer music.  Beside his wife, he is survived by his children: Martin Labinger and his wife Lisa; daughter Amy Gothers and her husband Matthew; and his two beloved grandchildren: Jake and Ryan Gothers.  He is also survived by his nephews Brett (Donna) Feinstein, Marc (Betsy) Kaplan and Steven Kaplan (and his fiancée Tracey Estes).  He also leaves an uncle, Alvin Rosenthal, and three aunts: Sally Rosenthal, Marge Rosenthal, and Sara Rosenthal; several cousins and their families in Connecticut, Florida, Georgia and California.  Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Janet Feinstein.

Solomon, Herman , 77, of West Orange, N.J., passed away on March 14, 2013.  Services were held on Sunday, March 17, at 2 p.m. at the Beth Israel Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, located at 1000 Woodbridge Center Drive in Woodbridge, N.J.  For  donation details, please call J.L. Apter Memorial Chapels of Cedar Grove at (973) 239-4200.  An Army veteran of Korea, Mr. Solomon had a desire to follow in his family tradition of becoming a professional baker and attended baking school.  After injuring his back in the Army, he became a bookkeeper instead, and eventually that led to his almost 50-year career as a CPA.  He and his wife, Judy, had a practice in Newton, N.J., early on, but eventually moved the practice to Livingston, N.J., where they lived for almost 40 years.  A devoted father to his girls when they were growing up, he was a kid at heart and loved adventure movies and superheroes.  Mr. Solomon leaves his wife, Judy; daughters, Beth Thompson (Bernard) and Sharon Solomon; sisters, Evelyn Solomon and Marilyn Levy, and his granddaughter, Cheryl.

Barrabee, Brian 77, of Portland, CT died peacefully at home on May 23, 2013, surrounded by the love of his family.  Brian was born on Dec. 7, 1935 in Manhattan.  After spending his early years in New York, he moved to Hartford, where he graduated from Weaver High School in 1953.  He attended the University of Connecticut graduating in 1957 with his degree in business.  It was at UConn that he met Loretta Gaston.  Brian and Loretta were married in 1958.  They moved to Brooklyn where Brian began his career on Wall Street and they started their family.  They moved back to Connecticut in 1964 settling in Simsbury in 1968 where they raised their family and actively participated in the community for over 30 years.  In 2000 they left Simsbury moving to Glastonbury and then settling in Portland where they have lived since 2005.  Brian was a self-made man who worked hard his entire life only just recently retiring in 2012.  He loved running his insurance brokerage Diversified Individual Brokerage and enjoyed the camaraderie of his employees, business associates and clients.  The last 25 years of his career he worked with his wife Loretta by his side.  Brian also played hard.  An avid golfer, racquetball and tennis player, he enjoyed competing in tournaments.  He was a devoted follower of UConn basketball and imbiber of Dunkin Donuts coffee.  Brian was blessed with many lifelong friends from childhood, college, and business, as well as the friendship of wonderful neighbors from Simsbury and Portland.  He enjoyed an active life until the last year when his illness sidelined him.  During that time he adapted surprisingly well and was appreciative of frequent visits from family and friends, most recently June and Jerry Lynne of Arizona and Bobbie and Alan Eisenstock from Los Angeles.  He also was under the constant care of his devoted wife Loretta and caregiver Alison.  Brian is survived by his wife of 55 years Loretta; and his children Lorraine Barrabee and her husband Alan Schwartz Ocio of San Francisco, CA, Linda Barrabee of Cambridge, MA and her partner Roger Sumner, and Diane Muller and her husband Chris of Boulder, CO.  He is also survived by his grandsons, Ben Schwartz Ocio and Nathan Muller with whom he adored and cherished his time.              

A celebration of Brian's life will be held this summer.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Brian's name to the The UConn Athletics Development Fund.

     Gard, Ann Gertrude (Bendell), 77, of Bloomfield passed away on Saturday, (December 15, 2012).  She was a loving wife, mother,grandmother and special aunt. Ann was born on October 10, 1935 in Hartford.  A graduate of Weaver High School, class of 1953 and the daughter of the late Morris and Sarah Gard.  She was predeceased by her sister Alice Fishberg Rosenberg and her brother Seymour Gard.  Ann was married to her loving and devoted husband Herb for 56 years.  They worked alongside each other at the infamous "Herb's Donut Shop" in Bloomfield.  Ann was also employed at the Hartford Insurance Group from where she retired.  Ann was a member of the Daughters of The Nile, Sphinx Shrine in Newington.  Besides her husband Ann is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Michael and Theresa Bendell of Simsbury; her daughter Randi Derench and son Steven Bendell of Fort Meyers, FL.  Ann was the proud "Mimi" of Sarah and Ross Bendell of Simsbury, Brandon Derench of Bloomfield and Tyler Derench of Burbank, CA and special aunt to Marilyn Goodman and Susan Steiner.  Ann, "Mimi", "Iggy" will be remembered for her spirited personality, chicken soup, Kugel, and her devotion to her family.

            CIANCI, Paul Salvatore 72, of Rocky Hill, passed away on Monday (October 1, 2007).  He was born on May 18, 1935 in Hartford, the son of the late Paolo and Josephine (Magro) Cianci.

            He lived in Rocky Hill for over 34 years.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy.  Paul retired in 1999 from Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford after 42 years of service.  He was a member of the Rocky Hill - Wethersfield Elks #2308, the Sons of Italy, and the American Legion.  He enjoyed working in his yard and was a devoted fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Giants.  Paul is survived by his son, Michael Cianci of Rocky Hill; three daughters, Patricia Adams and her husband, Claude of Waterford, Carol Jameson and her husband, Brian of Wallingford, and Cynthia Cianci of Rocky Hill; a brother, Sebastiano "Sebby" Cianci of Wethersfield; eight grandchildren, Christopher Cianci and Michael Cianci Jr., Lauren, Connor, Olivia, and Camille Jameson, and Ashley and Ricky Cianci.  He will also be missed by his five cats.

EPPS, William H., 76, of Bloomfield, beloved husband of Elaine (Bessette) Epps passed away Sunday, (August 26, 2012) at his home surrounded by his loving family.  Born September 2, 1935 in Norwich son of the late William H. Epps, Sr. and Mabel (Wells) Epps, he lived in Hartford and West Hartford before moving to Bloomfield in 1976.  He served with the United States Marine Corps. during the Korean Conflict.  He was employed with the Hartford Public Schools as a Security Officer before retiring.  William was very instrumental and active with the Doc Hurley Scholarship Foundation, served as president of the Weaver High School Retired Staff club, and a very strong supporter of all Weaver High School Sports.  He was a survivor of the 1944 Hartford Circus Fire, an avid reader of several newspapers, loved solving crossword puzzles, traveling, fishing and his Thursday card game.  He was a loyal fan of the New York Yankees and the UCONN men's and women's basketball teams.  Most of all William was a kind, caring, and giving person.  Besides Elaine, his wife of 41 years, he is survived by a son, Greg Davis of Bloomfield; his "adopted daughter" Otelee Rowe of Atlanta, GA; a brother, Richard A. GATES, Louis, 77, formerly of Hartford, Connecticut and Waterville, Maine, passed away on Monday (February 27, 2012), in Ocala, Florida.  Lewis was born on December 13, 1934, in Calais, Vermont, son of Fanny and Amos Gates.  He was predeceased by his wife Sarah (Sally) Gates and his daughter Denise Odom.  He survived by his daughter Rachel Rarus; his sons, Thomas and Wayne Gates; his sisters Joanne Venezia, Yvonne Tatro, and Eva Klinger; and his brother Amos Joseph Gates.  There are no calling hours.  A private service will be held by the family at a later date.  Published in The Hartford Courant, Thursday, March 1, 2012

SINGER, Irwin B. of West Hartford and Boca Raton, FL, loving husband of Beverly Dansky Singer, died Saturday, (December 17, 2011).  He was a prominent Hartford area businessman and philanthropist; was active in many civic and social organizations; and was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather.  Born in Hartford on December 21, 1934, Mr. Singer was the son of the late Joseph and Sarah (Gaberman) Singer.  He was a graduate of Weaver High School in Hartford, received a Bachelor of Science degree from Boston University and attended Georgetown University Law School.  Upon the untimely passing of his father and brother, within six months of each other in 1967, Mr. Singer chose to forego his lifelong dream of practicing law, and returned to the Hartford area to tend to his family's needs.  He became President of The Atlas Oil Company.  Through his determination and extraordinary business sense, he built his family's small oil company into the largest Mobil Oil distributorship in the United States at that time.  The company was acquired by Mobil Oil in 1995.  Since that time, Mr. Singer remained active in the management of his real estate holdings and numerous other business endeavors, as President of Singer Atlas Realty.  Throughout his career, he had countless honors bestowed upon him.  He was appointed a Member of the Board of Directors of First Federal Savings and Loan Association of East Hartford in 1972.  In that capacity he served as Chairman of the Loan Committee; Chairman of the Nominating Committee; Vice Chairman of the Audit Committee; Member of the Personnel Committee and Member of the Planning Committee.  He also served as Director of First Eastern Corporation; Director of the Independent Connecticut Petroleum Association; Vice President of the Better Home Heat Council of Greater Hartford; Assistant Brand Chairman representing Mobil Oil distributors for the entire United States; President and Vice President of Kiwanis Club of East Hartford; Director of the Chamber of Commerce of East Hartford; Vice President and Director of "Main Street Plus", a corporation formed to revitalize Main Street, East Hartford; Incorporator of Manchester Memorial Hospital; Chairperson of the Boston University Alumni Association of Hartford County; and a member of Toppers. Mr. Singer directed and participated in numerous fundraising endeavors for civic organizations, including the East Hartford YMCA, the Heart Association of East Hartford, and the Cancer Crusade.  He was a member of Temple Beth Israel, West Hartford, and the Beth Israel Men's Club; the Greater Hartford Jewish Community Center; and the Tumblebrook Country Club.  He was an avid golfer and skier, and a life-long Boston Red Sox fan.  Mr. Singer was a man of superior intelligence.  He possessed a great passion for all life had to offer and compassion for anyone who could benefit from his sound advice.  Those qualities won him the respect and admiration of all who came to know him.  When Mr. Singer spoke, whether in a business meeting or social setting, he always commanded the attention of everyone around him.  His input was invariably of great value.  He possessed extraordinary talents, and reveled in the opportunity to share his wealth of knowledge with others.  He had a unique ability to solve the most complex issues, both personal and professional, and was always willing to lend his insight.  He was thankful for his achievements in life, and felt a strong responsibility to help those who were less fortunate.  Despite his many professional accomplishments, Mr. Singer will best be remembered for his warmth, wisdom, generosity, and love of family.  He and Beverly, together, created a home filled with life, love and laughter.  So long as they had each other and their health, they had everything.  Despite his many passions in life, he was at his very best when he was spending time with his beloved grandsons, Andrew and Austin.  Whether they were attending a Red Sox game, playing with a new toy or simply discussing the boys' day at school, the smile on his face and the twinkle in his eyes revealed that "Pappy" was a man who had everything one could ask for.  He was an extraordinary husband, father, grandfather, friend and advisor.  His warmth and wisdom will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  Irwin is survived by his beloved wife, Beverly; his son, Gregory of Anchorage, AK, his son, Jonathan of Cambridge, MA; his daughter Pamela, her husband Allen Bestwick, and his beloved grandsons, Andrew and Austin, all of East Greenwich, RI.  He was predeceased by his brother, Walter Singer.  A memorial service will be held, Tuesday, (December 20, 2011) at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave, Hartford.  Interment will be at the Beth Israel Cemetery, Avon.  A memorial period will be observed at his home, 80 Ferncliff Drive, West Hartford, through Tuesday evening.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Walter V. ANIELLO, Robert S. Robert S. Aniello, 76, of Vernon, affectionately known and loved by all as "Uncle Bob," passed away on Monday (February 28, 2011).  Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late John and Concettina (Pandolfo) Aniello and had lived in Hartford, East Lyme, Glastonbury and Maine before finally settling in Vernon two years ago.  Bob earned his B.F.A. from the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn and received his teaching certificate in art education from Southern CT State College where he went on to earn his Masters Degree and sixth-year certificate in education.  Extremely talented and creative, Bob served two years in the U.S. Army where he was responsible for designing costumes and sets for Army shows.  After being honorably discharged in 1959, he worked in New York City for four years, providing costume design services for many Broadway and Off-Broadway shows, including the original production of "Little Mary Sunshine" and "The Balcony," for which his work was featured in a "Life" magazine cover story.  He then taught Art for the town of Hamden for 10 years, co-authoring two best selling art books, "What Can I Do For An Art Lesson?" and "Art Lessons On A Shoe String."  While teaching in Hamden, Bob worked extensively to develop and implement art programs for five schools, and he also produced and directed original theatrical works written and designed by students.  Prior to his retirement, Bob worked for many years for the Yankee Motor Inn in Niantic as their Functions Supervisor.  Uncle Bob is survived by his sister-in-law, Cleo Aniello of Avon, five nephews, John, Leonard, Francis, William and Christopher and their families, as well as numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews, including Josephine Aberle.  He was predeceased by his brothers, Francis and John.  Many of the happiest moments of his five nephews' lives were spent with Uncle Bob at Old Colony Beach in the white, convertible VW Bug.  Calling hours will be on Thursday (March 3) from 4-7 p.m., concluding with a service at 7 p.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.  Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.  For online expressions of sympathy to the family, please visit www.desopo.com.

COHEN, Gerald E., 76, of Bloomfield, died surrounded by his loving family, Tuesday (September 20, 2011) at Yale New Haven Hospital.  He was the beloved husband for 53 years, of Judith (Rabinowitz) Cohen.  Born in Hartford he was the son of Max and Anna (Bresnerkoff) Cohen.  He was a graduate of Weaver High School and the University of Connecticut.  He was employed as a sales representative for over thirty years and after his retirement, worked for William Raveis Real Estate and NAPA Auto Parts in Bloomfield.  He was a great fan of UCONN basketball and coached and served as President of Bloomfield Little League.  Besides his wife Judy, he is survived by his two children, Mark Cohen and his wife Helen of Trumbull, and Steven Cohen and his wife Jennifer of Farmington.  He is also survived by four grandchildren who were the joy of his life, Hannah and Sam Cohen of Trumbull and Alyssa and Sasha Cohen of Farmington.  He also leaves his brother Sidney Cohen of West Hartford and his beloved nieces, nephew and their spouses and children.  He was predeceased by his sister Ruth Margolis (Cohen).  A graveside funeral service was Friday, September 23 at 10:30 a.m. at the Hartford Mutual Society Cemetery, next to Simsbury Airport at 90 Wolcott Rd., in East Granby.  The family expresses their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of the Yale New Haven and St. Francis Hospital, Cardiac Units, for their kindness and thoughtfulness.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Gerald's memory may be made to the Foodshare in Bloomfield or a charity of the donor's choice.  May Jerry's memory be a source of strength and a blessing.  Funeral arrangements provided by Hebrew Funeral Association, Inc., 906 Farmington Ave., West Hartford.

MURPHY, Edward F., 74, of Wethersfield, beloved husband of Lisa (Zaccaro) Murphy, passed away peacefully Wednesday (February 10, 2010) at Hartford Hospital.  Edward was born in Hartford, son of the late Edward F. and Grace (Windmiller) Murphy, and resided in the Hartford area all his life.  He was a graduate of Weaver High School, a United States Marine Corp Veteran of the Korean Conflict, after which time, he became employed for the United States Postal Service.  In addition to his wife Lisa, Edward will be fondly remembered by his family; his five daughters, Lisa Dawn Murphy of Manchester, Cheryl Murphy of Hartford, Kim O'Leary of Rocky Hill, Arline Rollins, and Maureen Murphy both of Wethersfield; a brother, Robert W. ROONEY, Eileen Moynihan, 74, beloved wife of Robert Rooney, of East Granby, died Tuesday, (February 9, 2010) at the Avon Health Center after a long illness.  She was born in Hartford, the daughter of the late Edward and Agnes (Levine) Moynihan.  Eileen had been employed by the New England Telephone Company, East Granby School System, and St. Francis Hospital.  She was a St. Bernard's Parish Member, Girl Scout Leader, 4-H Leader, E.G. Booster Club Member, and a proud member of the Knitters Club.  Surviving besides her husband, Bob, three loving daughters, Katie and her husband, Greg, of Avon; Ann and her husband, Bill, of Medfield, MA; and Bobbie and her husband, Andy, of Berkeley Heights, NJ; two brothers, Joe Moynihan of Clearwater, FL; and Ed Moynihan of Palmer, MA; two sisters, Katherine Hayes and her husband, Ed, of Mystic; Mary Greco and her husband, Frank, of Wethersfield; and nine loving grandchildren, Sarah and Jenny Hudak, Allie, Bobby, and Brian Hunter, and Drew, Michael, Caroline and Brett Peer. MASCARO, Joseph A. Joseph A. Mascaro, 74, of Windsor and formerly a Windsor Locks resident for 41 years, loving husband of Rose (Evangelista) Mascaro, entered into Eternal Rest on Tuesday, (September 1, 2009) surrounded by his loving family.  Joe was born July 18, 1935, in Hartford, the son of the late Anthony and Antoinette (Mancuso) Mascaro.  Joe graduated from Weaver High School in Hartford, Class of 1953.  He enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Korean War.  Joe worked as a beer and liquor salesman for many years and later retired from Federal Express and soon after worked for the Loomis-Chaffee School in Windsor.  He was an avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan.  He coached midget football in Windsor Locks and was a loyal follower of Windsor Locks sports for over 40 years.  His family and friends will always remember his sense of humor.  Joe's greatest love was his family.  In addition to his wife Rose to whom he was married 51 years, he is survived by his daughter, Kim Mathieu and her husband, Norm of Bloomfield; his sons, Tony Mascaro and his wife, Sophia of Whippany, NJ, Joseph Mascaro and his wife, Merle of Rocky Hill, and Michael Mascaro and his wife, Denise of Simsbury; seven grandchildren, Lauren Jeffers, of Bristol, Matthew Jeffers of Portland, Anthony and Alexandra Mascaro of Whippany, NJ, Zachary and Mia Mascaro of Rocky Hill and John Michael Mascaro, of Simsbury. Joe is also survived by a sister, Lucy (Mozzicato) Wilkinson and her husband Doug of Old Lyme; his nieces and nephews, Sara, Ryan, and Ezra Wilkinson-Vellieux, all of Arlington, MA, Jeff, Patty, and Kendall Wilkinson, all of Somerville, MA; many cousins in the Hartford area and many friends.  In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by his step-father, Emanuel Mozzicato.  The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to all of Joe's friends for all their love and support during his brief illness.  They would also like to thank the staff at St. Francis Hospital, The Cancer Center, The Mount Sinai Rehab Hospital, and the Masonicare Partners Hospice for the wonderful and compassionate care that they provided.  Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Robert Bellarmine Church.  Joseph will be laid to rest with Military Honors in St. Mary's Cemetery.  Should friends desire memorial donations they may be made to the Susan G. FULCO, Frank D. , former presi­dent of Greater Waterbury Cham­ber of Commerce, died Wednes­day, (June 5, 2002) at home after a long illness.  He was born Novem­ber 19,1935 in Hartford, the son of the late Dominick and Theresa (Vincenti) Fulco.  Mr. Fulco attend­ed the University of Connecticut and graduated with a bachelors degree in business.  Throughout his career, Mr. Fulco had worked at many various chambers of com­merce.  While at the Greater Hartford Chamber of Commerce, he was a comptroller.  He was the vice president of the Greater New Or­leans Chamber of Commerce.  He was the chairman of the Greater American Chamber of Commerce as well as the president of the Greater Waterbury Chamber of Commerce.  Besides his wife, Mari­anne (DeNapoli) Fulco, he leaves two sons, Bruce Fulco, of Vienna, VA, and Stephen Fulco of Woodbridge, VA; a daughter, Karen Thomas of Foster, KY; two brothers, Salvatore Fulco of Wethersfield and Dominic Fulco of East Hartford; two sisters, Antoinette Rich of Wethersfield and Elizabeth Lostimilo of Newington; as well as seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.  He was pre­deceased by his brother, Paul.  Ser­vices for Mr. Fulco will be held at the More Than Conquers Ministry at Saint George’s Episcopal Church located on Tucker Hill Road, Middlebury on Saturday at 1 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent in Mr. Fulco's name to the More than Conquers Ministry, P.O. Beck, Alan L., 65, of Bloomfield, died Monday (December 11, 2000).  Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Harry and Dorothy (Jess) Beck.  A graduate of the University of Connecticut and Boston University School of Law, he was an Attorney in private practice for 40 years.  He worked as the Assistant to the Elections Attorney of the Secretary of State office and was involved in many Democratic campaigns including Senator Chris Dodd's and the late Governor Ella Grasso's.  Mr. Beck was an announcer for the Hartford Knights Football team and the Hartford Capitols Basketball team, as well as hosting his own sports talk show on WINF radio, and a contributor to the Brad Davis Talk Show.  He was active in Bloomfield organizing and running many youth sports programs.  Mr. Beck's love of law and sports intermingled as he represented many New England Whalers of the World Hockey Association and was active in their Booster Club.  He was involved in the formation of the Greg Morris Golf Tournament in Farmington and later volunteered his time for the Sammy Davis, Jr.-GHO Golf Tournament.  He was also an active member of the UConn Club.  He was a member of Beth Hillel Synagogue in Bloomfield.  He is survived by his wife, Roberta (Gordon) Beck of Bloomfield and two sons, Brian Beck and his wife, Pamela of Huntington, NY, and H. Jeffrey Beck and his wife, Lauren of Milford.  Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 14, at 12 NOON in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Avenue, Hartford, with interment in Beth Hillel Synagogue Cemetery in East Granby.  A memorial period will be held at his home thru Sunday.  Contributions in his memory may be made to the Bloomfield Midget Football, 330 Park Avenue, Bloomfield, CT 06002 or to the UConn Athletic Development Fund, 2111 Hillside Road, Unit 3078, Storrs, CT 06269.
